Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Our recent Christmas fair, which took place at St Philips Parish Community Centre in Huddersfield on the 17th December, raised over £800. We would like to thank everyone who came on the day and those who volunteered to support us.  This money will help us to continue our vital work.  We were delighted to be featured on the Today programme which was aired by Radio 4 recently. It was excellent publicity for Music and the Deaf.

Thanks again and best wishes from the Music and the Deaf team.

On the 11th December, the North West Deaf Youth ensemble gave a wonderful showcase of Christmas carols.  The audience sang and signed along with Away in a Manager and played sleigh bells in time with Jingle Bells. The players played extremely well and did themselves proud. Everyone loved their santa hats and costumes too! The performances followed with everyone mingling together with mince pies and refreshments. We would like to thank Carlie Ward for all her hard work in this project so far. Thanks must also go to Janet Long, the conductor as well as the communicators, tutors, parents and young people for all their hard work and commitment. This project would not have been possible without their support.

We are still offering places for young people with any level of hearing loss. Both complete beginners and advanced players are welcome. Sign language interpreters and instrument loans can be arranged if this is needed. If you would like any further information or would like to book a place then please contact Carlie on dyonw@matd.org.uk or ring the Music and the Deaf office on 01484 483115.
